Precarious Partnerships

15 May

PartnershipAs I read from 2 Corinthians 6:14-18, I began to think about how easy it is for us t walk hand in hand with things that God never intended us to do so with.  (Make sure you click that link on the text so we are on the same page…)  We live in such a society today that promotes personal freedom almost at any cost.  “Have you had your break today?”  “Have it your way, right away!”  “You deserve more!”  It breeds this sort of idealism within us that thinks that we are totally independent of everything around us.  We can just do what we feel is right, as long as it doesn’t hurt anyone else…

Well this is one of those areas that the Church of Jesus is going to need to come out and be separate.  We need to show that we are not lone rangers that are free to partner up with any idea or premise that seems right to us.  I love how this text goes about reminding us that when we partner up with something, it is more than just our personal mind, spirit and emotions that is involved in that partnership.  It reminds us that we are a temple in which the holy God dwells and what partnership can God have with darkness?  NONE!!!  This is a good reminder for me today…

When I was young I had this voice in me that said, you better not do that.  Many call that a conscience.  I believe it was the spirit of God just beginning to show me the way.  But now that I belong to Jesus, Christ dwells in ME!!!  That is no longer a little voice, it is a gut wrenching reminder that I am holy because He is holy.  It is our holy God putting me on notice, constantly reminding me of that which has brought me out of, and helping me to never walk back into it again…

be blessed
